No I am not traveling physically but spiritually. My mode of transportation is a writing meditation. What might hinder my journey, sidetrips into sexuality. Yes the physical side of sexuality hinders my travels into the spiritual.
To prepare for the trip you have to do a bit of concentrated reading. Getting along with humans take a lot of physical work of providing for needs like food, housing, cultural expectations and familiar ritual habits. Getting along with the spiritual takes a bit of esotericness, wanderings into long roads and different paths, and different sensory deprivations.
The esoteric
Prayer is a bit esoteric. It seizes upon some goals and yet on the other hand it is acceptance of no goals. You can sort of demand, request, beg and mention all sorts of things but basically we come to the understanding that things just happen.
The many roads
The more paths you take and observe and research them, the more familiar and wiser supposedly you can become. Those people who have shallow knowledge of roads can be easily detected. People who know the roads can describe it in a nutshell and know the dangers and joys of different roads. To have a mentor while traveling a road or a path is immeasurable. To explore roads by yourself might be a short and frustrating journey.
Some of the Chinese I know are experts in ancestor worshipping. Some Mormons have strong family ties. And individually a lot of folks are experts or comfortable in their areas of expertise. There are so many joys out there to experience.
Different sensory depravations.
Abstinence from alcohol or gambling can be a liberating goal. Other sensory goals is to not look at people sexually but as people. How long do you do it? As long as it takes to realize that other good attributes appear. Even refraining from using the internet can be a bit liberating or meditation writing can be an eyeopener.

To thank you for this very interesting and informative post.
when you get 60yrs old it's not all your mind all the time like it used to be.
I did finally realize that low self esteem contributed to a confused sexual life, though.
Good for you.
interesting thought process
interesting view of prayer
