I have been a Television installer and maybe I might have crossed paths with someone rich. Do the rich hire people to install their Televisions? Yes but I don't think they happen to hire my outfit. I have run across stingy customers but generally they have not been from the 1%. Most likely a good customer is from the 99%
My friend used to tell me tales from the rich (J. Paul Getty). One tale he told me was that he was so cheap that when people asked to call from his house that he used to charge them for using the phone.
Another rich person was Andrew Carnegie who donated money for Libraries. There is a U shaped library in Lincoln Heights that was built by his foundation's money.

Some of the 1% have been generous. One boss sent me and my wife to Hawaii for a week once even though I was not in Sales. He was always very generous. My experience that people who acquired wealth seemed less generous than those born into it, but I could be wrong.
I think the 1% TV emphasis is a little misplaced. I think the free trade agreements did not help us. I liked the old tariff system where we made and bought products made in America and each country charged tariffs to protect their industries. I also do not like term limits. I think voters should be able to vote someone in as many times as the want.

If we would have no rich people we would be a very poor country indeed!! What are our colleges thinking anyways? WHO PAYS TUITION IN THE BEST COLLEGES?! If I'm part of the 99%, it ain't me, brother!! Shouldn't be the government either, that's my money. Groan. I need some coffee!!
we have a library also in our town and it's a museum now but it is also a Carnegie library,too.
being a nurse I've come across millionaires who don't look like they are and then some who are and treat you like dirt. They are people.
Once one girlfriend who was a multimillionaire came over and I had a gal from down the street and we were drinking coffee. Well, Donna left to walk home and she saw Sissie's car and she called me later and said,"OMG I talked to her like a normal person." lol lol lol
@Babyboomerjill - There is a rich santa that comes to skid row to give out money. For sure to protect him and to prevent chaos there is a bodyguard.
Today's trivia: Steve Jobs always has a new car, so new that he doesn't drive it when the plates arrive....

There is a Santa that when we go to Ft.Worth on Christmas Day every year he stands on Interstate 35 (that is like your 5) and he waves to everyone from the middle of a walk bridge. lol I love it.

Our little town has a Carnegie library.If being rich is evil why do so many people want to be rich? LOL Every job I ever had was provided by someone who had more money than me.Class envy certainly can divide a country, divide and conquer usually works for a while where ever it has been practiced.
@Lucy_or_Ethel - We have to scale certain things. College student loans should be scaled close to Wall Street bail outs but yes some infrastructure stuff like bridge repair still needs to be done. United States is hurting for money, the problem is who can be fairly taxed?
I met quite numbers of rich people with richer-kindest heart, but I also met some poor people with poorer heart.
@PPhilip - I guess my take on this subject is 1st cut spending the money we do not have. Just like a business or a home, we should not spend more than we have, it can only go on so long before going bankrupt. America has more ware houses for imported goods than we have factories making our own goods. The scale is off balance and can not be fixed by creating more government financed jobs. In my humble opinion we need less government and more free enterprise but methinks that'll not happen, we just may be a snow ball rolling down the hill getting larger. I know things have never been perfect in America but looking to the government for bail out, hand outs and all the solutions just might be our problem. I guess no one has all the answers. It is a hot topic no doubt about it.
