Why use Panda poop? because bamboo may have some cancer fighting properties. At least most of the diet of a Panda is mainly bamboo.
I am considering trying out experiments in bamboo shoots. Last sunday I dug out a bag full of bamboo roots (no shoots yet because it is not spring) and I now have a craving for bamboo shoots.
The Huge bamboo shoots in the stores are imported when in cans and can come from Asia and Georgia (not the russian state but the one in Southern United States.) The bamboo farm there was used to help soldiers get used to Vietnam and they tried making paper out of Bamboo. Visiting the Bamboo farm is free:

The Japanese bamboo shoots are huge (larger than a hand) and need to be picked before emerging from the ground. Cut off the leafy like areas and you come to the soft center piece that is eaten after boiling and changing water (to make less bitter). Or you can buy prepared bamboo shoots in a can. Here is one video done step by step in preparing bamboo shoots.

The sound of a bamboo flute

is unique and quite zen. No two sakuhachi sounds exactly alike. I was friends with Mr (Sensei) Yuge who played and taught at UCLA the Sakuhachi. Some of the best bamboo used was taken from Texas/Louisiana area.
Here is a sample of Sakuhachi being played:

Unfortunately Mr Yuge died young of cancer. The cure ironically was close at hand.

Wow, I didn't know Bamboo shoots had Cancer fighting ingredients.
I didn't know any of this! I'd try panda poop tea at least once.
