The drawing was at @
xXxlovelylollipopOf course there is the PC method of coloring pictures but still I suppose we can have a contest going to see who is the best colorist. I went to
@nimbusthedragon's blog and colored her art work a bit. I hope she doesn't mind that the colors don't match (done to show my adding of color)Edit picture deleted and I added another picture that I colorized some time ago 11-1- 2008.

Besides coloring via computer you can also color by ink pens. I know one artist here at xanga that could do a lot of things with his art. I suppose art for me is more of a distraction/hobby.

any picture? :)
Aw how cute :D I'll try it but I have no idea how to do it lol
That is a ideal hobby to do.
Art is a great hobby.
That looks like fun!
I thought you meant hair colorist.
Haha that is cute! :)
i had no idea that being a cartoonist/manga artist doesn't necessary mean being a sketcher-inker-colorist all in one. guess you learn new things every day.
It... kinda depends on the situation, actually. Some artists draw, ink, color and letter their own work. Others do one, or a few of the jobs as required.
If memory serves, with managa, there are generally full studios involved, and it might be up to apprentices to draw the pages based on the head artist's guide lines.
@rudyhou - Depends on the situation. Once upon a time, it was standard practice for artists to take full credit for jobs farmed the job out to freelancers. One of the more high profile incidents involve Batman, of all things. Up until a couple of years ago, Bob Cane would be solely credited as the mind that created Batman. It was later discovered that most of what made what the character of Batman what it was was the work of an uncredited Bill Fingerman.
@xXxlovelylollipop - Google. :D
Also... the art of lettering gets no love. :'(
it's easier now ot be a cartoonist
I'm not into the whole "taking my stuff and coloring ontop of it thing", with respect. I don't mean to be a bitch, but I don't work hours on my pieces for them to be unceremoniously taken and redone. I hope you understand. I'm not trying to me mean, but it's basic artistic respect.
@nimbusthedragon - sorry, the main thing is that I did not get permission and regret not doing that. Artistic permission is the right of every artist.
@Lakakalo - really? hhmm, this gives a new light into appreciating the work of cartoon/manga. guess NOTHING is done by a single person.
@rudyhou - Oh it goes both ways. On some projects, it's a team. On others it's a single person. Off the top of my head... Stan Sakai is the writer, artist & letterer of Usagi Yojimbo, with an occasional bit of coloring by Tom Luth.
@Lakakalo - i have yet to own colored manga book series. i have 2 sets and both are in black and white. the colored ones i've seen around are almost exclusively for the western superheroes comic as well as for the local martial arts comic.
