I am a thrifty xangian and have used xanga exclusively by not paying for premium. Here is xanga's official comparison sheet:
Roughly I am saving $25 a year and I do see all my Xanga entries back to 2007 (that must mean I have saved $125)
But I only get to use three icons and cannot upload more than 100mb of photos per month.
I have not changed my user name but with all the points that I get with comments (and some folks have solicited donations of points) it would be no problem to change my user name without money.
Has anyone complained about the font of PPhilip? That larger print is free and the standard set up is also free.
I do hate some of the ads but still I am willing to put up with it.

hmmm, I have had my xanga for 10 years I thin and can see all my posts from back then and I don't have premium...
maybe I should double check, I know I could see them, I came back after rereading them all a couple months ago.
I have premium to avoid the advertising . I do not know if you know you have on your right side bar a row of portraits of women ...available ( this is written in French: disponibles = available ) .
For the fonts , nothing to say . They are the yours .

@xXrEMmUsXx - Some of my photos used on my blog get deleted or are unavailable to view.(they are copy and paste blogs). I still enjoy a lot of my old blogs because in footsteps other people have viewed them.

I know what you mean. I was gifted with a premium last year and I like it that way. It will be kinda hard going back to free mode with all the adds, but I always liked xanga for other reasons, so I don't think that will get in the way :)
@fauquet - Ah you get the french version of Dating ads. I get Zoosk a dating ad on my version. I will message you about what I see.
@whyzat - Most people are computer illiterate and don't know that they can set permanently the font into a larger script. I do tell folks how to change the font and it has been a while since I have gone thru that process.
I am jealous of those who are smart to change the colors of the fonts/letters.
Thrifty is better on Xanga. I refuse to pay for the lavish lifestyles of those Xanga brutes while all those cute little hamsters who power Xanga are down in the basement running on their little wheels.
I like having a bunch of different profile pictures to suit my tastes/feelings. I also like being able to avoid ads.
My Premium expires in December but I'm fairly certain I will buy more.
@Cestovatelka - In some ways the low res pictures is nice. In other ways some folks want more details in their photos. I see that you do demand a lot for your blogs.

Frankly that is good. Even though the ads are there, still one can read your posts and it doesn't matter. And if you can read your past posts that's all that matters...

I have premium because most of my posts are photos -- I actually like the larger font of your site.
your entries are easy to read. and i admire your frugality. i forget why i bought premium, but i did and that's that.
I used to pay for premium. Then I tried getting enough credits to get the Lifetime Premium, but I'm only at 28,389 so I've still got a long way to go, lol.
I spent the dough so I wouldn't have to see the ads.
Your site looks great, and there's nothing wrong with saving some money!

Most people have never heard of this site. When I tell my friends about it most of them have no idea what I'm talking about. They should think about some fresh ideas and how to sell xanga better around the net.

By my calculations 100 mb allows you to post 1000 pics per month, or 33 pictures per day. If you did that, you would be entirely obnoxious. Now. Has anyone complained about the font of PPhilip? I do not like it very much.
Ya know, I didn't like it at first, but it is a comfortable font on my eyes. Maybe it's the color scheme? Wait ... yea, it's the lime green that's getting to me. Fix that, will ya'? ;p
