Actually dogs have no particular fondness or hate towards people, it is the memories of pet owners that may recall the one bad example the Mitt Romney committed towards his pet dog.
Ann Romney loves her horses and maybe the Romney family when it moves to the White house will have a horse stable? Maybe the White House garden will be changed to build a stable? Or maybe the same stables used in Washington DC will house the parading horses and Ann Romney's horses? Basically under different Presidents, different animals and projects get emphasis.
Cats are probably fuming this year that there are no Presidential candidates promoting cat ownership. Wasn't Socks the cat the last famous cat?
Socks was adopted by the Clintons in 1991 after he jumped into the arms ofChelsea Clinton while she was leaving the house of her piano teacher in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he was playing with his sibling, Midnight. Midnight was later taken in by another family.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socks_(cat)
The Kennedys had ponies and horses and maybe Lyndon Johnson got his hamsters from the Kennedys? The Kennedys were the champions in owning Presidential pets.

Eeeew I hate cats, haha. I'm not even really a pet person, but I'd choose dogs over cats any day.
I think it would be cool if the Romney's had a horse stable if he becomes president.
@Marica0701 - Since my name means lover of horses, maybe I should root for Romney.....however if they destroy part of the garden in order to make a stable, then I am conflicted because I love gardens.
I remember Socks that the Clinton's had and they also had a dog.
my dogs don't like people who make their dogs ride on the top of the car against their will
Dear Philip,
Immediately, I think of then President Johnson picking his dog up by the ears. The present First Dog is Bo.He was given to the Obamas by, you guessed it,a Kennedy. (The late Senator Ted Kennedy.)Michael F. Nyiri, poet, philosopher, foolYour background is unsettling. What is that? A half moon with blood running out of it's mouth.?
@baldmike2004 - Now that you made me think about the moon with blood, I am starting to suspect it is a cynical view of love....The moon part is from a Manga/Amine "Soul eater" which someone sumitted to Xanga to use to frame a blog.
I am waiting for maybe a chinchilla or a mongoose ala rikki tikki tavi.
@Amandascowen - Heh, heh if the mongoose comes to Washington then all the snakes will fear for their lives.....
I have read that Prairie dogs are popular pets in Japan but maybe a small potbelly pig might also be future pets in the White House?
I think Socks was the last famous cat. I have both cat & dog, but I am more of a dog than cat person. Shh, don't tell Olivia I said that.
@PPhilip - Oooh parie dogs, that's a good one. although I wish DC would bring the magic of the 'jungle book ' ALIVE!
Lyndon Johnson made himself famous with his 2 beagles, Him and Her. One day, talking with a group of bankers on the White House lawn, he picked up Him by the ears. A photo of this event was published, and drew a huge outcry from the public. Romney's treatment of his dog was far worse than picking up a beagle by the ears.
lol
Didn't the Obama family have a big to-do about adopting a dog awhile back??
I think an exotic animal at the white house would be interesting.
If I were that dog, I'll bite him to death.
